I am a typographer and educator who currently lives and works in Istanbul, Turkey. In 2009, I received an MFA degree from Purdue University.
I have spoken at TypeCon, ATypI, TypoBerlin, Granshan and lectured on various topics in the field of typography.
My sanserif typeface, Duru, was published by SorkinType and acquired by Google Web Fonts.
In 2011, I devised a typesetting method called Text Invader and gave workshops on this system internationally.
Also in 2011 I cofounded ISType, a lecture and workshop series on typography, which I have been directing ever since.
I am currently a full-time faculty member at Sabancı University in Istanbul, where I teach courses on graphic design.
Besides my interests in Latin typography, I also research the history of Ottoman typography.
My visual work includes a wide range of projects, all of which captivate my passion for typography and illustration.
